I am playing catch up once again and it is thanks to my FABULOUS previous clients. THANK YOU for sharing your kind words about my photography business with your friends and family. I have been so busy this spring with photographing amazing families, babies, children, brides and high school seniors, and so much of it is thanks to you!
A lot of people have been asking me lately, “How’s your business?” or “How’s your photography?” and I have to say I answer the similar question very differently. I respond, “It’s wonderful!”, or “Oh he’s growing up so fast.” (Referring to my son), or “We are making lots of changes.” (Referring to our new home)…
I’ve come to realize that photography and business for me don’t go together. Photography is my PASSION, a piece of me, MY JOY…they are not one in the same for me. When people ask me what I love to photograph the most, honestly I have to respond with whatever I have photographed recently – that’s how much I love having the camera around my neck. The photograph, however, is not complete until I download the file onto my computer, study it, critique it, and treat it as art.
I have a passion for capturing life’s moments – and I have come to realize that I do see some things in life differently. I have some client’s tell me they are overwhelmed with how many photos I show edited from the sessions while others love all the variety – I can truly understand both points of view and I am trying to find a happy medium. The truth is--- I have a hard time pressing the delete button on some of those images that I know will only be captured in that ONE moment through my lens and I want to share it with you as my friend and client.
Where am I heading with this blog post? My “business” has always been personal and I want it to remain that way. I love getting go know each client (newborn, baby, child, mom, dad, family, high school senior, bride) in a unique way. I don’t want to get to the point that you, as a client, just signs a contract and never gets to know ME, the person behind the camera, or that you just come into my studio to take a few photos and then go on about your life – I want your photos to be of your life and an experience of your life - not a quick stop you have to make along the way. So…
I have hired a business manager. She is FABULOUS and believes in my passion.
