Wedding Wonderland {Lafayette Indiana Photographer}

Perfect day, perfect location, and perfect people to work with for a special day. It was an absolute delight working with the two of you and your families. Thank you for asking me to capture your magical day. Here's a sneak peek ...

This wedding was photographed in Zionsville, Indiana and at the Avon Gardens (http://www.avongardens.com) in Avon, Indiana. If you have never been there, I recommend planning a get away!

A NOTE ABOUT MY WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY:
Unfortunately, it is a very rare and unique occasion that I will contract a wedding for Dexter Designs due to the time commitment and post processing wedding photography deserves. However, please feel free to contact me if you are interested in my photographic style and would like to discuss your wedding details. If I am unable to commit to your wedding, I can refer you to other fabulous photographers in your area. Thank you!

ON A PERSONAL NOTE - it's more than just a business...{Lafayette Indiana Photographer}

I am playing catch up once again and it is thanks to my FABULOUS previous clients. THANK YOU for sharing your kind words about my photography business with your friends and family. I have been so busy this spring with photographing amazing families, babies, children, brides and high school seniors, and so much of it is thanks to you!

A lot of people have been asking me lately, “How’s your business?” or “How’s your photography?” and I have to say I answer the similar question very differently. I respond, “It’s wonderful!”, or “Oh he’s growing up so fast.” (Referring to my son), or “We are making lots of changes.” (Referring to our new home)…

I’ve come to realize that photography and business for me don’t go together. Photography is my PASSION, a piece of me, MY JOY…they are not one in the same for me. When people ask me what I love to photograph the most, honestly I have to respond with whatever I have photographed recently – that’s how much I love having the camera around my neck. The photograph, however, is not complete until I download the file onto my computer, study it, critique it, and treat it as art.

I have a passion for capturing life’s moments – and I have come to realize that I do see some things in life differently. I have some client’s tell me they are overwhelmed with how many photos I show edited from the sessions while others love all the variety – I can truly understand both points of view and I am trying to find a happy medium. The truth is--- I have a hard time pressing the delete button on some of those images that I know will only be captured in that ONE moment through my lens and I want to share it with you as my friend and client.

Where am I heading with this blog post? My “business” has always been personal and I want it to remain that way. I love getting go know each client (newborn, baby, child, mom, dad, family, high school senior, bride) in a unique way. I don’t want to get to the point that you, as a client, just signs a contract and never gets to know ME, the person behind the camera, or that you just come into my studio to take a few photos and then go on about your life – I want your photos to be of your life and an experience of your life - not a quick stop you have to make along the way. So…

I have hired a business manager. She is FABULOUS and believes in my passion. She is going to keep me on track in the business aspect so that I will be able to continue to offer you the unique service you have grown to love about me and my photography. I am so excited to share this news with all of you and to be able to offer all my past, previous and future clients the benefits of having another member of my team to assist you with scheduling, proofing and ordering. There is some exciting news about the future of DEXTER DESIGNS and I hope all of you are ready to come along for the ride. I will be formally sharing the news and introducing my new business manager here on THE BLOG so get ready and stay tuned…

:::Wee-me family dolls:::

I received the CUTEST family in the mail today. Yes, the mail and I had so much fun photographing them. They are called wee-me dolls and you can purchase them from the FABULOUS Heather Bauers on Etsy. She hand paints and custom designs these works of art to your order - this family is for some special people in my life. Please let me know if you want more info on getting your own family personalized. They are SO adorable and the detail is amazing. Send her a couple photos, tell about the individuals and she creates a cherished gift of a family as wee-me's. I do not have any talent for painting like this, or the patience, so I really admire her work.
